The morning coffee – drugs, sexting and bees

April 22nd, 2009

Apparently a jury in Texas decided to put a man to death based on a passage in the Bible. The convicted man appealed, saying his rights had been violated. The Supreme Court has declined to review the case. Does this mean that Texans may now enjoy the Christian equivalent to Sharia Law?

Is The New Yorker encouraging people to take drugs such as Ritalin to boost attention spans? Their look at brain-boosting drugs comes down rather heavily on the “positive” side.

Also a teenager who allowed herself to be photographed in a swimsuit was threatened with child pornography charges in a sexting case. The whole “felony charges over teens sexting” thing is confusing to begin with. It’s even more confusing when people are considering charging the kids appearing in the pictures with the crimes. Aren’t child pornography laws there to protect those children? It’s tantamount to arresting abused children for the child abuse that they have suffered.

We close with a comic. It has bees.
