The morning coffee and the Chinese dwarves

October 1st, 2009

The strangest thing I can find on the Internet this morning is this story about dwarfs in China:

Everyone in the mountain commune in Kunming, southern China, must be under 4ft 3 ins tall and they run their own police force and fire brigade from their 120 residents.

Now the group has turned itself into a tourist attraction by building mushroom houses and living and dressing like fairy tale characters.

I continually do not understand a wide breadth of sex offender and child protection laws, nor the activists who support them. There is now a furor over a photo of a (nude) photo of Brooke Shields as a ten-year old, currently on display at the Tate Modern. Why is it that photos of children are considered inherently sexual?

What’s in your fridge? For one man, the answer is body odour. Lots and lots of body odour.
