After investing over £500 million on monitoring the UK population via CCTV, the UK’s Home Office finally decided to see if they make any sort of difference in terms of deterring crime. They do. So long as it’s a late-night parking lot that has the CCTV. Everywhere else? Not so much.
UK Government, please see this and stop spending so much money on CCTV. It invades our privacy, and makes us no less safe, except for the time we spend in parking lots. Instead, spend that money on police, or dog shows, or something.

Over in the United States, the government is soliciting opinions on stem-cell research via the Internet. As most people are probably aware, Internet surveys tend to be biased towards those with strong opinions. In the stem-cell-research case, this means that the naysayers (who believe children are being murdered) are shouting much louder than (what I hope is) the sensible majority.
So, sensible majority, I invite you to check out the changes, and let the US government know your opinions on the matter. Also, please pass this information along as the sensible majority is so rarely prone to out-shouting the naysayers.
Wonder what the rebinding of a 490-year-old book looks like? Thanks to this rebinding of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, you no longer have to.
Finally, in celebration of their new book, we close with some Dinosaur Comics:
